  • early career practitioners: you will normally have graduated within the last three years and be working in archaeological prospection on a junior level, either paid or voluntarily;
  • students: if you are registered at a university or further education college for a degree or PhD programme;

Proof of eligability (student card, proof of graduation date) is required.

Further info: The International Society for Archaeological Prospection (ISAP) provides bursaries for supporting early career practitioners and students to attend the 15th ICAP.

Welcome reception city hall (15/09/2025) *

A reception at Ghent City hall with a welcome drink is kindly offered by the city of Ghent.

Opening Reception (16/09/2025 19-21h) *

The opening reception will take place at the historic Gravensteen (Castle of the Counts), a stunning medieval venue in the heart of Ghent. 

The price includes drinks and five exquisite plant-based hors d'oeuvres.

Conference dinner (17/09/2025 19-22h) *

The conference dinner will be held in the historic Chapter Room of the Sint-Pietersabdij (Saint Peter’s Abbey).  

The price includes a plant-based three-course meal accompanied by drinks.

Guided city tour (18/09/2025 19-21h) *

On Thursday evening, explore Ghent’s medieval heart with a guided walking tour. Discover a majestic castle, elegant guild houses, stunning cathedrals, and vibrant street art. Uncover the story of the ‘noose-bearers,’ stroll through graffiti alley, and admire the iconic Graslei. Your guide will bring history to life with tales of Emperor Charles V, the Belfry’s golden dragon, and more.

Excursion (20/09/2025) *

The conference excursion will take us to the medieval port of Bruges and the Zwin estuary were a dynamic landscape shaped for centuries by the interaction between nature and humans. The trip offers a unique blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage. Transportation by bus is provided, and a sandwich lunch is included in the price. 

Meeting point and departure details will be shared closer to the event.

Workshop data processing (15/09/2025 9-17h) *

This hands-on workshop will teach you geophysical archaeological prospection data processing using open-source software. The practical sessions are designed to equip participants with essential skills and techniques for processing geophysical datasets. Lunch and coffee breaks are included.
